Successful Presentation at Žesnad’s Technical Seminar

On 15 February 2023, the ŽESNAD.CZ association held an already second annual technical seminar devoted to the latest developments in the railway industry.
Altogether six lectures were given, among others by SIEMENS, ALSTOM and ŠKODA GROUP. Introduced were the latest innovations presented on online platforms of the manufacturers of railway vehicles, and the trends in the design of axles and wheels for rail vehicles. Digitisation of the railway transport, changes in TSI currently in a preparation stage, and the experience with ETCS installed in rail vehicles. Economically attractive solutions for freight transport and multi-system locomotives. BONATRANS GROUP presented the latest trends in the design of rail vehicle wheelsets, wheels and axles.
An attractive solution for rail freight transport are modern third generation stress-optimised wheels BONA313. These are wheels of the lowest weight (mere 313 kg) in the segment of wheels for axle load 25 tonnes available on the market, which allow to transport in the wagon effectively greater loads. This is the main reason why more and more clients opt to use these innovative wheels. The wheels are as standard supplied made of the BONASTAR ® ER7 innovated steel which gives them an up to 30% greater mileage of usage, and thus ease the impact of brake blocks K, L and LL on the wheel tread.
These wheels are also available in variation BONA320, which are as standard fitted with effective noise suppressors BONASILENCE®R+. Results of the tests of noise suppressors carried out in Germany in an international project sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure (BMVI), showed that these were the quietest freight wheels on the market.
A large section of the presentation dealt with our other innovative products which will help our clients to significantly reduce the costs of the product life cycle, and thus also of the rail vehicle’s carbon footprint, an issue that the seminar attendees also showed an interest in, namely:

- induction-quenched BONAXLE ®axles
- BONACOAT ®coating systems
Low life cycle costs are our contribution towards achieving a more efficient railway transport, helping to create an environment for transferring freight transport from the congested roads and highways to railways.
According to the European Environmental Agency (EEA), up to 22 million of Europeans are exposed to high noise levels from railway transport.
