Volunteering at the “leaning” Church of St. Peter of Alcantara

By arrangement with the Roman Catholic parish of Karviná-Doly, and in cooperation with the society Stará Karviná, z.s., we contributed towards making this old part of the town of Karviná.
Especially the surroundings of the Church of St. Peter of Alcantara, more civilised.
The efforts and energy invested and the work commitment of the company's employees – volunteers, helped to improve the surroundings of the building of the Church of St. Peter of Alcantara.
Before the works began, the adjacent pond could not be seen through overgrown bushes, trees and thick and tall reeds. After four hours of intensive work, visitors to this historical monument can now enjoy a view of the beautiful pond that completes the atmosphere of the “leaning” church.
At the same time, works were underway to clear the overgrown sidewalk. This effort of ours undoubtedly contributed to the prospect that the old Karviná with its “leaning” church of St. Peter of Alcantara will continue to be a popular place for leisure, education and culture.
The reward to all of us was an interesting commented exposition focusing on the history of the now perished town of Karviná, and on the history and present of the monument of the ancient town – the Church of St. Peter of Alcantara. By walking through the church’s interior, we can all experience the effect of this unique optical illusion.
