The presentation introduces new trends in eco design of wheels for current railway vehicles.

The article "Current trends in design of wheels for railway vehicles" deals with wheels for freight wagons, wheels for passenger cars, for locomotives and for trams. In the area of wheels for freight wagons, the wheels of the BONATRANS eco design school are introduced. In the area of wheels for passenger cars, there are presented wheels with many different noise absorbers. The presentation also summarizes the new trends in design of locomotives‘ wheels and resilient wheels for trams applications. Finally problematic of current wheel standards is discussed.
